Framlingham

Framlingham is another very attractive old market town, this one with tudor royal connections.

The castle sits on a small hill, immortalised in Ed Sheeran's song (this is his home town), overlooking a mere - a natural one this time - surrounded by marshy land.

On another day when it seemed never to really brighten into daylight, we took a slow stroll around the mere and under the castle walls.

The town square offered another bookshop opportunity, second hand this time, and a deli tempted us into some bits and bobs for dinner.

The Common Room café was our lunch spot, and we have now run out of steam.

We've reached the point where we just want to be back in our own home comforts, so we're leaving in the morning.

Sadly we haven't been up to a fuller exploration of the area, no local beers or fancy food. However, we feel like we've got a good feel for the character of the area, and would recommend it if you like a quiet bimble.

Em x
