Don't Diss Eye

We checked out our local towns today, Diss (pictured), and firstly Eye.

Eye is not much more than a village, though an attractive one. A 15 minute stroll took it all in. There are a few nice independent shops, including one selling hand made chocolates, so we bought a selection for when we're feeling better and can enjoy them properly.

On to Diss, which is essentially a bigger version of Eye. Both have a hotchpotch of buildings dating back to medieval times, which have been substantially remodelled over the centuries.

It didn't take much imagination to picture the original market towns that they were.

After a bowl of soup and a quick dip into a bookshop we headed a couple of miles further on to Bressingham.

In a fabulous example of nominative determinism the Bloom family established a plant nursery, and then laid out gardens to display their wares.

We spent a pleasant hour meandering around, taking in the trees and shrubs in their autumn splendour, and admiring the gorgeous grasses. All very soothing.
