Cardigan (the place, not the garment)

It's weird how the things that you assume will be straightforward somehow end up being the wrinkle in an otherwise smooth fabric.

The journey from Taunton to Aberystwyth was our first longish distance in the electric car, so we had a few 'this is new, how will it go' nerves about maybe having to charge up on the way, having only done it at home so far.

That all went swimmingly, in fact, and we arrived with plenty of juice to spare. We took the mountain road towards the end, which was unintentional but very beautiful.

Parking, however, didn't go to plan. Turns out there was some kind of rally driving event in the area, which meant that every single long stay car park was taken over by support vehicles or stalls for petrol heads. So we had a frustrating meander from one to the next until we had to give up.

Silver linings, however. After crawling around various back streets we found a spot on a residential road which (we think) has no parking restrictions or charges and abandoned the car there.

Lunch followed in the lovely Little Devils café before a quick leg stretch on the seafront and the two hour bus ride to Cardigan.

A quick stroll cemented our dinner and breakfast location choices (no food at the hotel) and then we repaired to a little old fashioned watering hole (Castle Inn) for a tasty pint. Stone Cold IPA for me - very nice.

Dinner was at Yr Hen Printworks, purveyors of small plates of very delicious food. We are now attempting some speed digestion before, we hope, a good night's sleep to set us up for our 12 mile walk tomorrow.

Em x
